Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) is set to celebrate its third year as a university by highlighting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) during its University Foundation Week, scheduled for May 13 to 17, a press release from CHMSU said.
With the theme “CHMSU@3: Celebrating Sustainable Gains and Forging Pathways to Sustainability,” this year’s anniversary celebration promises a week of fun and meaningful activities across all four campuses – Alijis, Binalbagan, Fortune Towne, and Talisay (Main).
The celebration will kick off in the morning of May 13 with the simultaneous “All Roads Lead to CHMSU Fun Run” in Bacolod City, Talisay City, and the Municipality of Binalbagan, organized by the Sports Affairs Office.
Thanksgiving masses will also be held on each campus to mark the start of the festivities.
A week-long SDG Expo Village will begin on May 13, showcasing various programs, initiatives, and projects led by students, faculty, and units. This exhibit will highlight CHMSU’s collective efforts in contributing to the achievement of the 17 SDGs.
The Library and Information Services, in partnership with the Center for Internationalization and External Relations (CIER), will also launch “CHMSU Through the Years: Many Roots, One Vision”—a university history exhibit to be displayed in all campus libraries.
Pocket events, invitational games, and open-mic performances will keep the U-Week calendar vibrant with opportunities for entertainment and engagement.
May 16 will be a highlight of the week, featuring a range of events organized by different offices and student organizations.
The Human Resource Development Office, in partnership with the Faculty Association and the Talisay-Alijis-Bacolod-Binalbagan Employees Association (TABBEA), will host Employees’ Day across all campuses.
Simultaneously, the Alumni Relations Office and various campus alumni associations will present “Alumni in Service: Giving Back Together,” while the National Service Training Program Office will lead the NSTP Day activities.
CHMSUans will gather for a community lunch dubbed “Punsyon sa CHMSU” before concluding the day with the highly anticipated ExCELSIOR Night.
The celebration will culminate on May 17 with a native tree-planting activity at the Bacolod Eco-Park.
The initiative, led by the Faculty Association, TABBEA, and Greening CHMSU Task Force volunteers, is in partnership with the Bacolod Environment and Natural Resources Office.*
