Unidentified men on a motorcycle shot dead a policeman in Brgy. 38, Bacolod City, at about 5:15 p.m. yesterday.
P/Staff Sgt. Joseph Nepumuceno, 37, of Brgy. 14, Bacolod, died while being treated at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, P/Major Ramel Sarona, Station 1 commander told the DAILY STAR last night.
Investigation showed that the suspects were already tailing Nepumuceno, who was on his scooter, when he left his house.
Nepumuceno, a member of the Bacolod City Police Drug Enforcement Unit, succumbed to four gunshot wounds from a still unknown caliber of firearm, Sarona said.
Witnesses said the suspects, who were also on a scooter, were both wearing helmets and one of them was clad in a black jacket, he said.
Sarona added they are still trying to establish whether the killing of Nepumuceno is work-related or if he had received death threats.
