The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod is requesting the City Treasurer’s Office through the Office of the Mayor to strengthen implementation regarding the inspection, testing, calibration and sealing of all fuel pumps in all gas stations in Bacolod City.

The resolution authored by Councilor Claudio Puentevella said City Ordinance No. 565, series of 2011, Chapter 5, Article 19 Section 62 f provides that the City Treasurer is required to keep full sets of secondary standards for use in testing of weighing and measuring instruments.

Under Section 62 9 (l) all retail outlets will be responsible for the proper calibration and accuracy of their dispensing pumps. All dispensing pumps must be calibrated quarterly or every three months and sealed by the property authority, it said.

“As we continue to face an unabated surge in fuel prices, it is but proper to regularly conduct inspection of all gasoline stations and guarantee that all operating fuel pumps are accurate and also ensure that their pumps are working properly,” the resolution added.*
