City, DOH officials meet today

A panel headed by Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran will lead the city contingent in the 2 p.m. discussion today via a Webex meeting, the details of the proposed medical center in Barangay Vista Alegre in Bacolod City, with representatives of the regional office of the Department of Health-6.

Leonardia disclosed that Dr. Adriano Suba-an, DOH- 6 regional director, with whom he had an earlier talk about the four-hectare Teofilo M. Gensoli Memorial Medical Center, is sending personnel from the agency’s Center for Health Development to meet with local government officials.

Leonardia and Familiaran will be joined by Councilor Cindy Tan-Rojas, City Legal Officer Joselito Bayatan, Dr. Edwin Miraflor, Jr., officer-in-charge of the City Health Office; former Councilor Em Legaspi-Ang, executive director of the Emergency Operations Center-Task Force Against COVID-19, and Dr. Chris Sorongon, EOC-TF deputy for medical data analysis and management.

Also attending the meeting are City Engineer Aladino Agvones, assistant City Engineer Loben Rafael Ceballos, Architect IV Jaries Encabo, Architect I Jerome Mariveles and Engineer III Nove Jalbuena.

The mayor told Suba-an that the TMGMMC, whose donation was facilitated by Gloria Gensoli, will house the new City Health Office that will be built using city government resources, and the planned Bacolod hospital.

The bigger CHO inside the medical complex will also have a dialysis center, clinics, birthing facility and state-of-the-art medical equipment to serve better the health needs of Bacolodnons, the mayor said.*
