Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran led the City’s distribution yesterday of financial assistance, worth P146,000, to residents affected by a fire incident in Zone 2 Purok Riverside, Barangay Bata, Bacolod City on June 18.
The distribution activity was joined by councilors Renecito Novero and Bartolome Orola, City Administrator Em Ang, kagawad Edmer Abaring representing Angelito Abaring, DSSD assistant head, Sally Abelarde, and consultant Marlon Solidum, a press release from the city said.
Assisting them are DSSD supervising social worker Rosalyn Rubrico, barangay social worker Paolo Sajo, and daycare teachers.
Seventeen houses were razed by the fire, affecting 19 families.
The families of 11 destroyed houses received P10,000 each, P5,000 each for families of six damaged houses, while two families sharing in these houses received P3,000.
The affected families are temporarily staying at the evacuation area in the barangay gym.
Leonardia visited the affected families on the same day the fire incident happened.
The Department of Social Services and Development and the DRRMO also extended food packs, tents, sleeping kits, and hygiene and first-aid kits to the fire victims, the press release added.*
