The Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital is hiring an additional 547 hospital staff with the approval of RA 11441 increasing the bed capacity of the regional hospital to 1,000 beds.

Dr. Julius Drilon, CLMMRH Chief of Hospital, said they were given by the Department of Budget and Management the budget to hire additional hospital personnel composed of different staffing or positions which include about 150 nurses.

Drilon said he hopes they will be able to hire a substantial number of staff by the end of October.

Since the CLMMRH is the end referral center of hospitals in the province, so there is really a need to expand its bed capacity. This is part of a long-time strategic planning and not because of the pandemic.

Drilon thanked Bacolod Rep. Greg Gasataya for initiating the bill in Congress and his brother Senator Franklin Drilon for supporting its passage in the Senate through a joint resolution.

Gasataya said the Department of Health will be providing funds for the building and equipment needed by CLMMRH aside from the funds it will be providing for the construction of the Bacolod City General Hospital, which he authored.*
