
The Swimming Coaches of Negros Association hosted Fun Swim 4 and Competitive Swim Event on August 12, at University of St. La Salle Pool, aimed at developing national and international caliber swimmers.
Participants came from different swim clubs all over Negros Occidental.
Morning events included the Novice category, where the top 3 clubs were Orca’s Swimming Team, Minuluan Pirate Swim Club, and Team Gators.
In the afternoon, the best tankers displayed their full-potential, and the Minuluan Pirates Swim Club dominated the meet, eventually being declared Champions in Competitive Category.
The most bemedaled athletes during the event were Maaraya Garovolli for Age 6 and under Girl; Highrich Deligincia, Age 6 and under Boy; Rogennyl Rebato, age 7-8 girl; Harry Diesto for Age 7-8 Boy; Aerho Tibus for Age 9-10 Boy; Kristin Garpa for Age 9-10 Girl; Ashreil Gangoso for Age 11-12 Girl; Gregori Alek Ong for Age 11-12 Boy; Chrisella Marie Los Banes for Age 13-14 Girl; Intnyr Gutana for Age 13-14 Boy; Adrian Chua for Age 15 and over Boy; and Sharise Medel for Age 15 and over Girl.
According to swimming coach Cris Bancal, regular swim events and proper training will allow these swimmers to be the future of Negros Occidental in national and international meets.
He cited the recent achievements of a young swimmer from Silay City who won silver in SEA Games at Cambodia, in the person of Alexi Cabayaran, a product of the grassroots program of the association.*
