The Philippine Coast Guard in Negros Occidental is on red alert status following the two explosions in Jolo, Sulu that killed 15 on Monday, Lt. Comm. Jansen Benjamin, PCG-Neg. Occ. head, said yesterday.

Coast guard personnel have intensified security border checks in all major ports of the province, including San Carlos, Escalante, Sagay and the Bacolod Real Estate Development Corp. port, Benjamin said.

This is in connection with the Jolo bombings and in compliance with directives from PCG national headquarters and Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade, he added. Fifteen individuals were killed and 74 more, including 24 soldiers, were wounded in the blasts.*
