COC filing peaceful so far – PNP

• GILBERT P. BAYORAN

The first three days of filing of certificates of candidacy (COCs) for Eleksyon 2025, which started on Tuesday, has been “relatively peaceful” so far in Western Visayas, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).

PBrig. Gen. Jack Wanky, regional police director of Western Visayas, who visited the Provincial Capitol Social Hall in Bacolod City, which is the venue for accepting documents from candidates, disclosed that they have not monitored any untoward incidents in the region during the filing of COCs.

Wanky, who attended the blessing and inauguration of the new Silay City Police Station, said the Regional Joint Security Control Center will convene to assess the peace and order situation in the region, after the end filing of COCs on October 8.

It will be the RJSCC which will identify the possible election areas of concern for the 2025 midterm elections, he added.

Wanky also issued an appeal to candidates to control their supporters who may accompany them when they file their respective COCs.

Policemen have been deployed in all Commission on Elections centers to maintain order, he added.*
