An injured CAFGU Active Auxiliary (CAA) member and eight others who foiled an attack against residents of an upland community by New People’s Army in Madaja village of Brgy. Buenavista, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, were honored and given medals for their braveryby the Army’s 303rd Infantry Brigade.

Brig. Gen. Inocencio Pasaporte, 303rd Infantry Brigade commander, personally awarded the Military Commendation Medals to nine CAFGU members for their acts of bravery and outstanding performance during a recent encounter with a group of NPA rebels in the hinterlands of Himamaylan City, on February 28.

One of them, who was also injured in the gunbattle, also received a Wounded Personnel Medal from Pasaporte during the awarding rites held at the 94th Infantry Battalion headquarters in Brgy. Tambo, Ayungon, Negros Oriental.

Pasaporte congratulated and praised the nine CAAs for their voluntary service.

We recognize all your sacrifices and I hope these medals will inspire you and other CAAs to continue to do well in the performance of your duty in Negros Island, he added in statement issued by the 94th Infantry Battalion.*
