The Office of the Commission on Elections in Bacolod City was closed for disinfection starting yesterday after one of its personnel tested positive for COVID-19.
Bacolod Election Officer Kathrina Trinio-Caña yesterday said registrarion of voters will resume today at the Comelec Bacolod Office with acting Provincial Comelec Supervisor Maria Fatima Aspan as acting concurrent Bacolod Comelec election officer. This is to ensure that the ongoing voters’ registration that will run until September 30 will not be hampered.
Trinio said the personnel who got infected with the COVID-19 virus is now in the city’s quarantine facility. Since they have been exposed to the COVID positive patient Saturday, they have to wait for five days before they can undergo swab test.
The ongoing voters’ registration has no extension, she said.
Trinio said the extension given to them is in the number of hours, adding that instead of 8 am to 5 pm on week days this has been extended to 8 am to 7 pm., and on Saturdays, it is from 8 am to 5 pm.
Satellite registration will be on September 17 and 18 at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central and September 25 at SM City Bacolod.
The filing of certificates of candidacy is from October 1 to 8, Trinio added.*
