Several names will be deleted from the list of voters in Bacolod because of duplication while others are already deceased, based on official records from the city Civil Registrar’s Office, Commission on Election officer Kathrina Trinio-Caña said yesterday.
Caña said they are also scheduled to delete the names of voters who already transferred their registration to other areas, after the Election Registration Board hearing.
But she said that they do not have the actual figures yet of how many voters will be deleted since they are yet to consolidate the records.
NO DEACTIVATION
As to the deactivation of voters’ registration, Caña said they could no longer do it now and will need to wait for the 2022 elections to be over.
Bacolod Comelec had deactivated 42,735 voters, as of August 13, 2019, for their failure to vote in two successive regular elections.
Caña reminded the public, especially those living in the northern area of Bacolod, that there will be a satellite voters’ registration today at the City Mall in Brgy. Mandalagan.
The registration in Brgy. Alangilan for those living in the eastern part of the city was cancelled after a barangay resident tested positive for Covid-19 recently, Caña said.
It is also not known if the July 16 registration of young voters at the St. Joseph School-La Salle in Villamonte will push through because the Emergency Operations Center has yet to approve the request of Councilor Ayesha Villaflor, Caña added.*
