Comelec NegOcc targets 200K voter registrants

• GILBERT P. BAYORAN

In line with the 2025 mid-term elections, the Commission on Elections is targeting 200,000 voters-registrants in Negros Occidental, with the implementation of its Registration Anywhere Program (RAP).

The program will kick off on February 23, Provincial Comelec supervisor Atty. Ian Lee Ananoria disclosed.

RAP, according to Ananoria, will allow voters who are either working or studying in capital towns and cities, as well as highly-urbanized cities like Bacolod City, to register in their hometowns.

It will also make it easier to register, reactivate, and the transfer of registration for voters under the new program, he added.

“If it is successful in priority areas, it will be replicated in other local government units,” Ananoria added.

Ananoria said that the poll body in the province is ready for the launching of the voters registration for the 2025 midterm elections that will start on February 12, which has been designated by the COMELEC as “Araw ng Botante.”

Ananoria disclosed that only barangay identification cards with the registrant’s picture and signature would be accepted, and not company IDs.

In the May 2025 elections, voters will vote 12 senators, members of the House of Representatives, and local officials.*
