The Commission on Elections reminded eligible voters that they have until September 30 this year to register, in order to vote in next year’s elections.
The call was made by Provincial Comelec supervisor Atty. Ian Lee Ananoria, in the wake of the issuance of the official calendar of activities by the Comelec, for the midterm elections in May 2025.
The election period will start on January 12, 2025, including a gun ban that will be in effect during the five-month period, prohibition on the suspension of elective officials, and prohibition on the movement of officers in the civil service, among others.
From October 1 to 8, those running for the polls may file their certificates of candidacy, while party-list groups will file their certificates of nomination and acceptance.
Ananoria said Comelec would not allow the substitution of candidates who voluntarily withdraw their candidacy after October 8.
The campaign period for senatorial candidates and party-list groups will start from February 11, 2025 to May 10, 2025.
Candidates for the House of Representatives, parliamentary, provincial, city and municipal offices will be allowed to campaign from March 28 to May 10 next year.*
