Two weeks have passed since the resumption of the voter registration and the Commission on Elections Negros Island Region has registered 11,381 applicants.
Based on the report released by the commission, 6,858 voter applicants were catered to in the first week, while for the second week, October 27-30, another 4,523 registrants were served.
Negros Occidental remains as the province with the highest turnout, with 4,751 registrants for the first week and 3,309 added in the second week, bringing the total to 7,780.
In Negros Oriental, 3,049 applicants processed their registrations in the first two weeks, while 272 were recorded in Siquijor.
Nine residents took advantage of the Comelec’s Register Anywhere Program (RAP) at the Bacolod City office, an initiative allowing eligible voters to enrol outside their home precincts for convenience.
The registration of new voters will run until May 18, 2026.
During registration, the commission will no longer accept barangay certification or company ID as proof of residence; only government-issued ID will be accepted. If that is not available, new voters can bring one registered voter to identify them as a resident.
Meanwhile, in observance of All Saints Day and All Souls Day, the Comelec announced the suspension of the voters’ registration from the afternoon of October 30 until November 2.*
