A construction worker, who was sifting sand, was wounded when a bullet hit him at Dahlia Street, Regent Pearl Homes Subdivision, DC 2 in Barangay Alijis, Bacolod City, at about 11:20 a.m. yesterday.
Randy Mariposa, 40, sustained a gunshot wound and was rushed to the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center, P/Lt. Florentino Abalayan, Station 7 chief, said yesterday.
Investigation showed that the bullet came from the firearm of Arnel Orocio, a maintenance worker in the subdivision.
Orocio and a co-worker, whose name was not disclosed, were having a heated argument and the former drew his .38 caliber pistol and fired it towards the latter but the bullet hit Mariposa instead.
Abalayan said Orocio fled after the incident.
Meanwhile, two persons were injured in stabbing incidents in Bacolod City, Friday night and Saturday.
Meljun Aguirre, 18, of Barangay Handumanan, sustained two stab wounds on his back and was brought to a hospital after a group of men mauled and stabbed him in Purok Paghida-et, Phase 6A in the barangay at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, the Police Regional Office-6 reported.
A woman stabbed and injured her live-in partner at Margarita Street in Barangay 40, Bacolod, at about 6:50 p.m. Friday.
Jomar Sultan, 26, of Barangay Handumanan, was hit in the neck, while the suspect, identified as Joan Tolibas, 32, also of the barangay, was later arrested and is now detained at the custodial facility of Station 6.*
