The president of the Alliance of Concerned Consumers in Electricity and Allied Services (ACCESS) likened Negros Power to the “guardian of prosperity” in a press statement.
“As we move on to navigate the incoming New Year 2025, our minds and hearts are filled with anticipation of the good things to come, particularly in the area of electric power or energy, which is an essential fuel of growth and development. Economic growth is evident when the majority of the people can enjoy secure, sustainable and affordable access to modern energy sources. Access to affordable and reliable energy sources and services are necessary components in reducing poverty, increasing productivity, enhancing competitiveness and promoting economic growth,” said the statement of ACCESS president Wennie Sancho.
Sancho’s statement claims that with its continued investment in infrastructure, renewable energy and transparency, Negros Power is poised to play a vital role in NIR’s development in 2025 and beyond. As NIR becomes functional, Negros Power’s reliable and efficient energy supply will be essential for driving economic growth, social development and cultural advancement.
In a symbolic manner, ACCESS would like to make a comparison between Negros Power and the Colossus of Rhodes. Like the Colossus, Negros Power looms large in NIR’s landscape, providing essential energy infrastructure. It stands as a foundation of strength, representing stability and resilience by overcoming challenges. Indeed, Negros Power is the guardian of prosperity, he said.
Moreover, for the future generation of consumers, Negros Power will be their legacy, a heritage of progress and a symbol of resilience, overcoming challenges, ensuring continuous power supply, a beacon of development inspiring the people of Negros by becoming a wellspring of progress and development which shall empower the socio-economic transformation of the Negros Island Regions(NIR), Sancho’s statement added.
Negros Power has struggled to move fast enough and take advantage of the many digital tools and technologies at their disposal. As a result, most of the distribution utilities (DU’s) were unable to capture the business value that Negros Power had achieved, because of its continued investment in infrastructure modernization. Negros Power has committed to providing the consumers with top-notch power service, prioritizing delivery and service excellence. It is an economic pillar, representing wealth and power as it fuels our economy. Its reliable energy supply creates harmony between economic growth and environmental sustainability. Negros Power is the guardian of prosperity as it safeguards the region’s well-being in terms of reliable power supply, he said.
“If the Colossus has withstood earthquakes, Negros Power has weathered challenges, ensuring continuous energy supply, as well as lighting the way. Like the Colossus, its massive presence illuminates the path to progress, a unifying force, as energy accessibility unites the consumers to withstand challenges and like the Colossus, we have to be vigilant in the protection of our rights and to advance our welfare. Let us navigate the New Year 2025 together with Negros Power, as the guardian of prosperity,” Sancho’s statement that was in praise of the distribution utility added.*
