The president of the Alliance of Concerned Consumers in Electricity and Social Services (ACCESS) is urging the consumers of Negros Power to join their movement in supporting the power utility firm.
“As we navigate the new year 2025 Negros Power stands as an engine of growth that keeps on powering forward, overcoming challenges to achieve excellence. From power outages to opportunities, Negros Power is in the process of rebuilding, restoring and renewing the power landscape of Negros Island Region (NIR), to build a better future by transforming challenges into triumphs,” Wennie Sancho said in a statement.
Negros Power kicks off with a fresh vision promising enhanced energy services, innovative solutions and strengthening community services. This is in line with its aim to strengthen its commitment to the consumers through enhanced collaboration and partnership, he said.
Sancho claims that the anticipated benefits that would be felt by the consumers with the implementation of its community engagement and consumer empowerment program will be the issuance of detailed power outages reports, its causes and resolution timelines, holding of fora for consumers feedback, and establishing channels for suggestions and complaints. This would include enhanced customer portals, user friendly on-line billing payments and a 24/7 customer support system that is responsive to the needs of the consumers.
A survey conducted by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) shows that 85 percent of the consumers consider that the energy provider’s community engagement is essential. In addition, the activation of the Consumers Advisory Board (CAB) would be vital for the success of the community engagement and consumers empowerment program.
Enhancing community engagement and consumers empowerment program, is crucial for Negros Power’s long-term success. This will foster a collaborative relationship between Negros Power and its consumers, driving growth, sustainability and consumer satisfaction. In the process, confidence to the commitment of Negros Power will be magnified. Satisfied consumers become loyal customers, he said.
Sancho claims that Negros Power’s 5-year Development Plan fosters economic growth, creating jobs and stimulating local businesses. Upgraded infrastructure ensures consistent power supply enhancing productivity and quality of life.
“Negros Power is empowering our future. By standing together we shape the destiny of the Negros Island Region. Let us unite behind Negros Power’s vision, fueling progress and prosperity. Our collective support can overcome challenges and build a bright tomorrow. Let us empower Negros Power with our unwavering support,” the advocate said.
Sancho is urging the consumers of Negros Power, “Our call to action is to join our movement, support Negros Power. Stay informed, participate in our advocacy for a reliable and sustainable energy by illuminating NIR, empowering our people.”
Moreover, consumers in far-flung areas of Negros Island “have seen a great light”, a fulfilment of their long-cherished dream in the area of Don Salvador Benedicto in Negros Island, which is a manifestation of Negros Power’s commitment to the plight of the poor and the needy, he said.
Expanding electricity access to remote areas will improve the peoples’ livelihood and quality of life. This is a form of social services by making electricity more affordable. This is Negros Power’s “Electricity for all” program, Pantawid Liwanag and Kuryente sa Barangay, bringing electricity to the unserved or underserved barangays, Sancho said.
Negros Power’s commitment to serve the poor and the needy demonstrate its dedication to social responsibility and sustainable development by turning challenges into opportunities, his statement supporting the power company added.*
