Farmers of the San Enrique Multi-Purpose Cooperative sold 7,790 kilos of clean and dry palay to the National Food Authority in Bacolod City Tuesday.
Ronald Aluyen, supervisor of the JJ warehouse at Bredco port in Bacolod and of the GID warehouse beside the NFA compound, said the cooperative will sell additional kilos of palay within the week.
A farmer also said he will sell his palay to the NFA Bacolod warehouse, Aluyen added.
The NFA said it is now buying clean and dry palay, at P19 per kilo, to boost the rice supply.
NFA Negros Occidental branch manager Efipanio Cosca said they set up buying stations in Bacolod, San Carlos, and Ilog to assist farmers, who may contact the warehouse supervisors about the agency’s palay procurement program.
Farmers from central Negros may contact Aluyen at 0939-6984160, while those from southern and northern Negros Occidental may contact Maverick Misajon at 0915-6706090, and Jose Porferio Lesidan II via 0917-3018452, respectively. Farmers from the south may sell their palay at the Gequillana warehouse in Brgy. Dancalan, Ilog while those from the north at the DTY warehouse at Edrina Street in San Carlos. They can also inquire at the NFA office in Bacolod City, or call 434-4954.*
