A law enforcer in Murcia was stabbed by a jobless man after he tried to pacify a commotion, while an uncle in La Carlota attacked his nephew with an axe after witnessing an affair with his wife on Sunday, December 28.
In Murcia, a police staff sergeant assigned to the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Bacolod City Police Office was hospitalized after being stabbed multiple times while attempting to de-escalate a neighborhood brawl.
The victim was reportedly resting at a friend’s residence in Purok Lacson, Barangay Caliban, when he was awakened by a heated altercation between a suspect identified only as ‘Rohan,’ 29, and another individual known as ‘Toyu.’
In an effort to maintain peace, the off-duty officer intervened. However, the suspect allegedly drew a 10-inch kitchen knife from his waistband and attacked the officer.
The victim sustained multiple stab wounds to various parts of his body and was rushed to a local hospital, where he is currently in stable condition.
Authorities apprehended ‘Rohan’ during a follow-up manhunt operation.
Investigators recovered the weapon used in the assault, along with the officer’s service firearm, which has been turned over to the station for safekeeping.
In La Carlota City, a domestic dispute nearly turned fatal at Hacienda Palencia, Barangay La Granja, after a man allegedly discovered his wife and nephew in a sexual affair.
The suspect, a 36-year-old migrant worker identified as ‘Jimmy,’ had reportedly just returned home from work early Sunday morning.
According to initial police reports, the suspect entered his residence to find his wife in bed with his 27-year-old nephew, ‘Tonying.’
Angered by the discovery, the suspect allegedly grabbed an axe and attacked his nephew, inflicting serious wounds to the victim’s head and body.
The victim was rushed to the nearest hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Local police arrived shortly after the incident and arrested the suspect at the scene.
Both cases are currently being processed for the filing of appropriate criminal charges.*
