Cop tests positive for illegal drugs

• GILBERT P. BAYORAN

A policeman assigned in Negros Occidental tested positive for illegal drugs, according to a report of the Police Regional Office 6.

As of this time, the PRO 6 reported that 5,694 police personnel have already been drug-tested, with only one turning out positive, regional police spokesperson Maj. Mary Grace Borio disclosed.

Borio, however, said the concerned personnel will be subjected to a confirmatory test. If evidence warrants, he will face appropriate charges and will be dismissed from the service, she added.

On the other hand, three personnel of the Bacolod City Police Office received Medalya ng Kagalingan from PRO 6 on July 10, in recognition for their exemplary accomplishments in the field of law enforcement operations.

Conferred with medals were PCapt. Melvin Mercado, PStaff Sergeant Rommel Cometa and PCpl. Francis Mombay, all assigned at the Police Station 8 of the Bacolod City Police Office.*
