Police officers of Station 4 gave food packs to 22 pedicab drivers of Barangay Villamonte in Bacolod City, Tuesday.

P/Maj. Charles Gever, Station 4 chief, said yesterday that pedicab drivers are also badly-affected by the ongoing pandemic, so they thought of giving them a little aid.

The police made sure that quarantine protocols, such as social distancing and proper wearing of facemasks, were implemented during the gift-giving ceremony held at the covered court of the barangay.

“It is a way of sharing something with the stakeholders, especially to trisikad drivers, who do not have fixed income and whose livelihoods were also affected by the health crisis,” Gever said.

The pedicab drivers, who are always on the street and familiar with people in the neighborhood, could help the police in terms of information dissemination or reporting of incident or accident, Gever added.*
