Boundary Quarantine Control Points have been established by the Philippine National Police in five border areas of Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental, in compliance with the executive order issued by Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson to prohibit non-essential travel of persons to the province.

The BQCPs are located in the borders of Kabankalan City and Mabinay, Hinobaan and Basay, Isabela and Guihulngan City, La Castellana and Canlaon City, and San Carlos City and Vallehermoso in Negros Oriental.

P/Lt. Abegael Donasco, deputy spokesperson of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, said that inner BQCPs were also established in Bago and Talisay cities that border Bacolod City.

The enforcement of non-essential travel of persons from Negros Oriental to Negros Occidental took effect June 15 until June 30, and aims to control the surge of Covid-19 infections, Donasco said.

ST. JOHN’S FEAST DAY

She also said that mobile patrol cars of city and municipal police stations in Negros Occidental have been tasked to help in the information dissemination campaign on the need to comply with the mandated health protocols.

As stipulated in the EO issued by Lacson, beach and mountain resorts and other related recreational facilities in Negros Occidental will be closed on June 23 to 25, in line with the observance of the feast of St. John the Baptist on June 24.*
