The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) said they will file a criminal case against a suspect linked to the murder of church driver Efren Banaglorioso on August 24.
City Director PCol. Joeresty Coronica confirmed that the individual who borrowed the getaway vehicle has been identified as one of the suspects in the fatal shooting.
Coronica stated that they met with a prosecutor as the case build-up is continuous, with several witnesses providing sworn affidavits, but added that they need more evidence.
Banaglorioso, a 59-year-old driver for the Bacolod Cosmopolitan Christian Church and a resident of Barangay Granada, was shot multiple times outside his workplace along Circumferential Road in Barangay Taculing.
The black Mitsubishi Montero Sport utility vehicle used by the assailant and his accomplice was recovered in Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental, on September 1, a week after the crime.
Police initially considered the possibility of mistaken identity or a personal grudge as a motive for the shooting of the long-time church employee, who was not known to have any enemies or criminal records.*
