Policemen seized on Monday an estimated P715,000 worth of illegal cigarettes at Sitio Utod in Barangay Hilamonan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
Also arrested was alias “Bazer”, 57 years old, a resident of Santa Catalina, Zamboanga City.
His arrest came after the Kabankalan City police got information on the unloading of boxes of illegal cigarettes at the area.
Policemen, who responded to the reports of a concerned citizen, caught the suspect in the act of unloading boxes of cigarette products without graphic health warnings from a red Isuzu drop side elf.
Seized were 29 big and small boxes of Tourism cigarettes containing 1,030 reams, as well as 12 big boxes of Bosqu cigarettes, containing 600 reams, and the Isuzu Elf vehicle.
The arrested suspect and the confiscated suspected illegal cigarettes are now in the custody of the Kabankalan City Police Station.*
