The Police Regional Office Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) carried out an anti-illegal drug operation at Purok 7, Diversion Road, Barangay Batinguel, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental on Friday, leading to the confiscation of P1.02 million worth of suspected shabu.
The arrested was identified as alias ‘Melsac,’ 46, and a resident of Purok Santan, Barangay Taclobo, in the city, who was tagged by the police as a High-Value Individual.
Authorities said that the operation was carried out following information received from a confidential informant that the subject was actively engaged in the sale of illegal drugs in the area.
Upon confirmation, the police recovered from the suspect’s possession four heat-sealed sachets containing suspected shabu weighing more or less 150 grams, with a standard drug price of P1,020,000.
PRO-NIR Spokesperson PLt. Col. Joem Malong confirmed that the subject had been previously arrested for selling illegal drugs.
The confiscated drug evidence was submitted to the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Forensic Unit for laboratory examination, while the suspect is currently under the custody of Dumaguete PNP.
The suspect will face charges for violation of sections 5 and 11 of RA 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.*
