The Police Regional Office Negros Island Region carried out an anti-drug operation at around 3 a.m. yesterday at Purok Progreso, Barangay Taculing in Bacolod City, that led to the arrest of a high-value individual and the seizure of almost P400,000 worth of suspected shabu.

The subject of the operation was identified as alias “Kim,” a 38-year-old unemployed male and a resident of the barangay.

During the operation, the police recovered from the suspect’s possession at least 9 sachets of suspected shabu approximately weighing a total of 58 grams, with a standard drug value of P394,400.

PRO-NIR said that the operation was conducted following information received from neighbors, concerned citizens, previously arrested individuals, and other sources indicating that the subject is connected to the same source of illegal drugs.

Upon apprehension, the suspect was informed of constitutional rights. The confiscated drug evidence was submitted to the Negros Occidental Provincial Forensic Unit for laboratory examination. Meanwhile, the suspect is under the custody of Police Station 6 for proper legal disposition.

PRO-NIR in a statement reaffirms its commitment to intensifying its anti-illegal drug campaign across the region.

“The regional police leadership continues to push forward with proactive and sustained operations aimed at dismantling drug networks and preventing the spread of illegal substances,” it said.*
