
Alvin “Baby Smith” Guevarra and wife RizaCelajes-Guevarra will mark their 24th wedding anniversary today with an online chess tournament with cash prizes awaiting the winners.
A chess player himself, Alvin was part of the famous FEU Tamaraws chess team in the UAAP under coach GM Jayson Gonzales, while Riza was a Guidance Counsellor at the New Era University.
The couple now resides in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
The champion in the tournament will receive P2,000 while the second placer gets P1,000 and P500 for third placer. Fourth to 10th placers will receive P300 each.
Top kiddie and lady players will also receive a prize.
Tournament organizer is NM Homer Cunanan and Leo Penaredondo with the support of Rhoda Celajes-Frei, Kristine AbegailGuevarra-Gamet, Jun Sahagun, Robin Victoria and Joseph Young.*
