COVID-19 death toll up to 11 within 2 weeks

BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

The Provincial Incident Management Team logged 11 COVID-19 related deaths from December 1 to 11, in Negros Occidental.

The highest number of fatalities was recorded at five on Dec. 9, PIMT reports said.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Ernell Tumimbang called on unvaccinated individuals to get vaccinated to avoid being infected by the virus during the holidays.

Tumimbang disclosed that majority of the COVID-19 related fatalities are unvaccinated.

As of yesterday, PIMT logged 16 new cases, bringing to 287 the active COVID-19 cases in Negros Occidental.

Other deaths recorded by PIMT this month were three on Dec. 5, two on Dec. 1 and one on Dec. 10.

From March 27, 2020 to Dec. 11 this year, Negros Occidental logged 44,156 cases, of which 41,806 recovered, and a total of 2,060 deaths.

Since Dec.1, passengers arriving at the Bacolod Silay Aiport are no longer required to present vaccination cards.

This was implemented to harmonize with domestic airport protocols, especially in Manila, Provincial Inter Agency Task Force action officer Atty. Rayfrando Diaz earlier said.*
