Moises Padilla Mayor Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo was added to the list of local chief executives in Negros Occidental, who tested positive for Covid-19.

This brought to seven the number of Negros Occidental local chief executives, including Valladolid Mayor Enrique Miravalles, Victor Gerardo Rojas of Murcia, Raymund Tongson of Himamaylan City, and Maria Gina Lizares of Sipalay City, among others, infected by the virus since last year, aside from board members and councilors.

Yulo said yesterday that she got the positive result on June 2, and the mayor’s office was temporarily closed immediately, until further notice, and all her staff employees are now in isolation and slated to undergo RT-PCR testing.

“We will resume operations once our local health officer has given us the clearance to do so,” she added.

“We are almost exhausting our resources in order to protect the health of the public. This virus does not discriminate, and no amount of money can resolve this problem, except the will of our people,” Yulo said as she reiterated the call for cooperation of the public in observing the mandated health protocols. She also encouraged Negrenses to take advantage of the free vaccine in order to protect themselves from the effects of the virus, from hospitalization, and even death.*
