Employees of the Cadiz City government, who will be infected with coronavirus disease, while performing frontline functions in combating the pandemic, are entitled to medical assistance, Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. said.
The Cadiz City government has about 740 employees and 440 barangay-based workers and officials actively involved in the fight versus COVID-19.
Based on Resolution No. 2020-354, authored by Councilor John Vincent Escalante, which was unanimously approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod last week, the medical assistance program will also cover barangay officials, workers and tanods, aside from elected officials, and permanent, contractual or job order workers.
The resolution states that frontliners, who test positive for COVID-19, shall be immediately provided with P10,000 cash assistance that is retroactive in application.
It added that the hospital assistance shall not be more than P400,000, or the net amount of the bill after PhilHealth, Office of the Senior Citizens Affair or Persons with Disability deduction, or whichever is lower.
In case the health condition of the grantee requires hospital confinement as certified by the city health officer or her authorized representative for the purpose of receiving medical intervention for serious or critical cases, the hospital assistance shall not be more than P400,000, or the net amount of the bill after PhilHealth, Office of the Senior Citizens Affair or Persons with Disability deduction, or whichever is lower, the resolution said,
Records of the City Health Office showed that 32 frontliners had already contracted the virus.
