A decrease of 19.14 percent in crime incidents for the first quarter of this year compared to the same period last year was reported by the Bacolod City Police Office.
P/Lt. Liberty Indiape, BCPO spokesperson, said there were 397 index and non-index crimes from January to March last year, and 321 this year, or a difference of 76 cases.
Of the 321 incidents, 71 were index crimes, or those committed against persons while the rest were non-index, Indiape said.
Crime clearance and crime solution efficiency both also dropped by 5.8 percent and 2.1 percent, respectively, she added.
Indiape said the average monthly crime rate also shows a decrease from 21.63 percent last year to 17.49 percent this year.
The BCPO attributed the decrease in the number of crime incidents to the conduct of Enhanced Managing Police Operations that addresses and applies appropriate and target-specific interventions.
P/Col. Manuel Placido, city police director, commended the operating units and personnel for a job well done, and for the relentless effort to stop all forms of criminality. He also reminded them to be always motivated to do their job for the betterment of Bacolod City, especially in this time of the pandemic.
P1.9M SHABU HAUL
Meanwhile, BCPO reported that, for March alone, they were able to seize P1.9 million worth of shabu, weighing 284.584 grams, during intensified operations.
Sixty-six drug personalities, four of them considered high value targets, were arrested in 48 buy-bust operations, and 101 drug charges have been filed, BCPO records showed.
Fifty-eight wanted persons were also arrested while four were apprehended for loose firearms. Some 75 individuals were also arrested for illegal gambling, the police added.*
