Cuadra killers still unidentified

BY ADRIAN P. NEMES III

The police faces a “blank wall”, Bacolod Station 3 deputy commander P/Lt Jesse Lapeña said, referring to the investigation on the shooting incident that killed Lino Cuadra, a fighting cock breeder, at the Bacolod North-bound Terminal Friday.

Lapeña admitted that they are having a hard time identifying the assailants of  Cuadra even if they were able to secure a footage captured by a closed-circuit television camera from a nearby establishment.

Cuadra 62, of Barangay 2 in Bacolod, was standing at the Talisay-Silay terminal when he was shot past 6 p.m. Friday He died on the spot from the multiple gunshot wounds he sustained.

Witnesses claim that the suspects fled on a red Toyota Innova but Lapeña said  that  is yet to be confirmed.

Based on the CCTV footage they have, one of the suspects was wearing a hood while the two others were wearing jackets, Lapeña said.

He said the faces of the suspects were not clear based on the video and aside from that, the CCTV was not able to record the entire incident as it was rotating.

Lapeña also said that they will ask other nearby establishments for additional CCTV footages, hoping to identify the suspects

Reportedly there were policemen on duty when the shooting happened but they were roving at the adjacent Ceres terminal.

At least 24 empty shells of a still unidentified firearm were recovered from the crime scene.*
