DAR employee shot dead

An employee of the Department of Agrarian Reform was shot and killed by an unidentified gunman on July 8 at Purok Sandia in Barangay Mambaroto, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental.

The 57-year-old victim, whose identity was withheld by the police, was on his way to Sipalay City, driving his XR 125 motorcycle, when he was shot by the gunman.

The DAR employee succumbed to two gunshot wounds in the head and was declared dead on arrival at the Sipalay City Health Office, according to the police.

Two fired cartridges of a 9mm pistol were recovered by Sipalay policemen who responded to the shooting incident.

The victim was reported by the Sipalay police to be a resident of Brgy. East Candoni.

Police probers are still establishing the motive of the killing, and the identity of the gunman responsible for his death.*
