The Negros Museum, as part of celebrating Museum and Galleries Month, announced an upcoming book launch and Author’s Talk on October 28, featuring “Dauntless” by Marie Silva Vallejo.
The book explores the World War II history of the U.S. Army 1st and 2nd Filipino Infantry Regiments, pivotal in liberating the Philippines from Japanese occupation.
Marie Silva Vallejo, a Filipino-American with 45 years in the United States, holds degrees in Education and Psychology. She authored “Battle of Ising: The Untold Story of the 130th Infantry Regiment in the Liberation of Davao and Mindanao” and contributed to the American Historical Collection in Manila. Vallejo’s pioneering work on scanning the Guerrilla Recognition Program files at the U.S. National Records and Administration (NARA) has led to the digitization of historical records showcasing Filipino contributions to WWII history.
“Dauntless” not only highlights Vallejo’s personal connection but also sheds light on the profound sacrifices made by the Filipino-American community during a time of racism and adversity. It was previously launched at the Ortigas Foundation Library in Manila and in San Francisco by PAWA at Sentro Filipino.
On October 28, (Saturday), at The Negros Museum, at 2:30 p.m., Vallejo will share this compelling story. As limited seats are available, reservations can be made by messaging TNM on Facebook or contacting 09187095502 / 433-4764.*
