The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) is investigating the death of a 36-year-old male whose body was found early Wednesday morning, in Bloomfields Subdivision, Purok Villa Lucasan, Barangay Mandalagan.
The victim was identified as Jose June Codico, a resident of Purok Pine Tree, Barangay Bata, in the city, was identified through a tattoo on his neck, the name of his live-in-partner.
He was found with a plastic blindfold over his eyes, a visible head wound, and blood pooled around him.
According to Police Station 3, the body was discovered at around 6:05 a.m. by a concerned citizen who then alerted the barangay tanod.
Responding officers found Codico lying face down in an isolated area, wearing a white t-shirt and brown shorts.
The BCPO Crime Scene Investigation Unit (CSIU) was immediately called to process the area and gather evidence.
Authorities are now working to determine the motive and circumstances behind the victim’s death, and whether it is connected with the bodies that were found in Talisay last Monday.
Codico has a criminal record of stealing cable wires, multiple cases of physical injury, and was arrested last September 2019 in a drug bust operation.
He was also a prime suspect for a shooting incident in Barangay Bata.
The BCPO urged anyone with information to come forward and contact the Police Station 3 to assist the investigation.*
