The Bacolod City government has proposed a deadline of January 15 for residents of Purok Balinday, Barangay 2, to vacate the illegal structures built along Mambuloc Creek.
City Legal Officer Atty. Karol Joseph Chiu confirmed that the operation is currently awaiting the final signature of Mayor Greg Gasataya, with the formal notice to vacate scheduled for posting on January 15.
A total of 27 households are affected by the upcoming demolition, which aims to clear the waterway of unauthorized constructions.
Chiu said that the city already provided the residents with significant consideration and an extended grace period during their pre-demolition conference, delaying enforcement to allow families to celebrate the holidays.
The Bacolod Housing Authority has been coordinated to provide relocation assistance in Barangay Vista Alegre for the qualified families.*
