The decomposing body of an unidentified female child was recovered from a river in Sitio Nabuswang, Barangay Canmoros, in the town of Binalbagan, Negros Occidental, at approximately 2 p.m. yesterday.
According to initial information released by the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO) Binalbagan, the victim is estimated to be between eight and 12 years old, about four feet tall, and was found unclothed except for plain blue panties, and gold earrings.
Authorities are appealing to the public to coordinate with the LDRRMO Binalbagan if they know of any missing person or family member matching the description.
The child’s remains are currently at La Funeraria Soledad in Vista Alegre, Barangay Enclaro, Binalbagan.
Police officials say that the body may have been swept away by the strong current of the river.*
