Dengue cases continue to soar in NegOcc, Bacolod

Dengue cases in Negros Occidental, including highly urbanized Bacolod City, have risen further to 1,715, with seven deaths, as of March 22 this year.

The province of Negros Occidental logged 1,435 cases with six dengue-related deaths, while 280 cases with one fatality were reported in Bacolod City, according to separate reports of the Provincial Health Office and City Health Office.

Dengue cases have affected all 31 towns of Negros Occidental and 10 of the 61 barangays of Bacolod City, the reports added.

Negros Occidental recorded an increase of 386.44 percent or 1,140 more cases compared to 295 in the same period last year, while Bacolod City logged an increase of 177.2 percent, compared to 101 cases in the same period last year.

At 285, Bago City still recorded the most dengue cases among the 31 component cities and municipalities of Negros Occidental, while Barangay Estefania in Bacolod City logged most of the city’s cases at 24.*
