The number of dengue cases in Negros Occidental, including highly urbanized Bacolod City, have risen further to 2,253, with nine fatalities, as of May 10.
The Provincial Health Office logged 1,897 cases with seven dengue-related deaths, while Bacolod City recorded 356 cases with two deaths.
In a report released by the Bacolod City Health Office, dengue cases increased by 147.2 percent for the period from January to May 10 this year, compared to 144 cases with zero deaths recorded in the same period of 2024.
On the other hand, dengue cases in Negros Occidental went up from 449 cases in 2024 to 1,897 cases, an increase of 322.49 percent.
With 383, Bago City continues to record the most dengue cases among the 32 local government units. It is followed by Kabankalan City with 175 cases and La Carlota City with 150 cases.
The age group with the most number of dengue cases in Negros Occidental is between 11 to 20 years old, and all the component cities and municipalities of the province having at least one suspected case of dengue.*
