Negros Occidental recorded a drop of 66.8 percent in dengue cases during the first four months of 2026, according to reports from the Provincial Health Office.
The PHO surveillance data, covering January 4 to April 25, however, logged four dengue-related deaths in 601 reported cases.
In the same period last year, there were 1,808 dengue cases, which indicates a reduction of 1,207 cases.
La Carlota City registered the most cases this year with 59.
Children aged 1 to 10 accounted for most of the cases, although patients ranged in age from infants to 63 years old.
For the period of January to April 14 this year, the highly urbanized Bacolod City also recorded a 50.5 percent reduction in dengue cases, from 315 cases with two deaths in 2025 to 156 cases with zero fatalities this year.
The barangays of Singcang-Airport and Mansilingan topped the 61 Bacolod City barangays with the most dengue cases, the City Health Office reported.*
