The dengue related deaths in Negros Occidental, including the highly urbanized city of Bacolod, have risen to nine, as dengue cases increased further to almost 1,984, as of April 5.
Among the nine fatalities, two were recorded in Bacolod City, and one each in the cities of Bago, Silay, and San Carlos, and the towns of Isabela, Murcia, Ilog, and Manapla.
Negros Occidental recorded a total of 1,603 dengue cases from January 1 to April 5, an increase of 381.38 percent, compared to 1,270 cases in the same period last year.
Bacolod City also posted an increase of 155.1 percent on dengue cases, from 188 cases with zero deaths last year, to 301 cases this year.
Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson reminded the public to see a doctor if they experienced symptom of dengue fever.
Bago City continues to top the list of local government units, having a total of 320 dengue cases.*
