DENR and partner law enforcement agencies recently apprehended forest products at Sitio Dinaldangan, Barangay Celestino Villacin, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.

The joint follow-up operation, demolition and hauling activity were in line with the recently conducted investigation and initial hauling activity conducted by the DENR-Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Cadiz City operatives on September 2 and October 5, respectively, following a complaint with regard to the illegal cutting of native trees, charcoal making, indiscriminate clearing, and construction of illegal structure resulting from illegal occupation, committed inside Northern Negros Natural Park (NNNP), at Sitio Dinaldangan, Barangay Celestino Villacin, Cadiz City.

The acts were allegedly perpetrated by a certain Analucas, a resident of Barangay Fabrica at Sagay City, Negros Occidental, and his companions, without any authority or clearances from the PASu of NNNP.

On November 16, DENR-CENRO Cadiz operatives headed by CENRO Cadiz chief of staff Perpetuo John Odango III, with NNNP personnel, Cadiz City Environment and Natural Resources Office, Cadiz City PNP and Philippine Army, conducted combined joint follow-up operation, demolition and hauling activity on the illegally cut forest products that were used illegally by the perpetrators in constructing a rest house located at Sitio Dinaldangan, Barangay Celestino Villacin, Cadiz City Negros Occidental.

The operatives used the hired 6×6 pickup provided by a concerned citizen and the team was able to successfully haul the demolished forest products with a volume of more or less 1,613.80 board feet. The remaining illegally cut forest products with a volume of 1,708.05 bd. ft. or 4.02 cu.m. are still in the area and are scheduled for demolition.

DENR-CENRO Cadiz recommended that the additional forest products with an approximate total volume of 1,613.80 or 3.80 cubic meters that were successfully apprehended and hauled, serve as additional supporting evidence against the respondents, in addition to the 1,408.53 bd. ft. or 3.32 cubic meters that were initially hauled on October 5.*
