Developer donates land for emergency facilities in Mandalagan

Rockwell Land Corporation is donating a 1,986-square-meter parcel of land to the City of Bacolod, which will serve as the future site of essential emergency facilities: a Fire Substation, a Bac-up Station, and a Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Command Center. The property is located within the new Rockwell development along Buri Road, Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City.

The project was initiated by Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, with funding support from Senator Francis Tolentino, who allocated a P10 million budget in 2024.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has been tasked to lead the construction.

The City Engineer’s Office (CEO) is working in close coordination with DPWH to ensure that the facility’s design complements the overall master plan and aesthetics of the development, according to a statement issued by the City Public Information Office.

The necessary documentation is being processed to formalize the land donation and allow construction work to officially begin.

Present during the coordination meeting were Rockwell representatives – Arch. Louie Sacdalan, senior construction manager; Danie Timson, assistant manager for Permits, Licensing, and Registration; Mars Lopez, assistant vice president for Rockwell Bacolod; and Albert Loberes, assistant vice president for Permits, Licensing, and Registration.

Also in attendance were city and agency officials Engr. Loben Ceballos, Bacolod City engineer; Engr. Leah Jamero, DPWH OIC district engineer; PCol. Joeresty Coronica, Bacolod City Police Office city director; and FSINSP Jenny Mae Masip, Bacolod City fire marshal.*
