The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) team represented by Provincial Officer, Engr. Romeo Tome, and Engr. Jane Maravilla presented projects and programs to Sipalay City Mayor Maria Gina Lizares on July 12.
Some of the proposed projects of the DICT are to increase the number of Tech4Ed centers in the city, establishment of Digital Jobs PH and the creation of an ICT Council, among others.
In partnership with the city, DICT will establish an information and communications center where Sipalaynons can freely use computers and the internet, be it for research, study, and work. There is currently only one Tech4Ed center in the city.
DICT also planned the creation of Digital Jobs PH in the city where interested applicants can get free training from professionals, usually running from a few weeks to a month, depending on the course.
Some of the courses offered are General Virtual Assistant, Graphic Design, Website Development, and eCommerce, among others.
Mayor Lizares said she hopes that these will come to fruition since it will help upskilling Sipalaynons, which is in line with her Executive Legislative Agenda.
After the presentation, on behalf of the City of Sipalay and the CDRRMO, Lizares handed over a token of appreciation to Tome and the DICT for their invaluable aid to the city in the aftermath of typhoon Odette.
The agency sent a team of engineers and the Government Emergency Communications System-Mobile Operations Vehicle for Emergency (GECS-MOVE), a rapid deployable emergency communications system that provided ICT-enabled support to disaster-stricken areas.*
