The Department of Interior and Local Government has designated Lailyn Ortiz as its officer-in-charge of the Negros Island Region.
Prior to her present position, Ortiz served as assistant regional director of DILG in Region 12.
Teodora Sumagaysay was also designated as OIC Assistant Regional Director of DILG for Negros Island Region.
As of this time, only the Departments of Health, Agriculture, and Commission on Elections have designated respective regional directors in the NIR.
We are hoping that by next year, the DILG-NIR regional office will be fully operational, after the transition started on October 1, Ortiz said.
She also announced that the DILG -NIR will be established in Bacolod City.
Since there is still no budget for the regional office for its operations, it will be sourced from both Regions 6 and 7, Ortiz further said.*
