A total of 18 local government units in Negros Occidental were among the the 79 localities in Western Visayas that successfully passed the 2024 Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA) conducted by the Department of Interior and Local Government
The CFLGA passers are highly urbanized Bacolod City, and the component cities of Bago, Cadiz, Himamaylan, La Carlota, Sagay, San Carlos, Silay, Talisay, and Victorias, and the municipalities of E.B. Magalona, Calatrava, Hinigaran, Hinoba-an, Isabela, La Castellana, Manapla, and Murcia.
The Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA) is an annual assessment tool used to evaluate how effectively local government units (LGUs) implement child-focused policies and programs.
Evaluating performance across five child-focused areas, it is designed to promote and ensure the rights, welfare, and development of children in local communities.
The 2024 CFLGA audited the LGUs’ 2022 performance.
There is a noted increase in the number of passers in 2024, from 66 LGUs during the previous assessment period.
“Let this milestone continue to inspire you and other LGUs to prioritize children’s needs and foster environments where they can reach their full potential,” a statement from the DILG provincial office said.*
