Displaced Himamaylan families get assistance

The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office is giving P3,000 each to 3,166 families displaced by the series of encounters between government forces and New People’s Army rebels in the hinterlands of Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.

The DSWD Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) was distributed yesterday by social workers to 1,927 beneficiaries in 20 hinterland sitios of Brgy. Carabalan in Himamaylan City, at the barangay covered court.

On October 17, DSWD Field Office (FO) VI reported that it distributed P657,000 in financial assistance through AICS to affected families staying at various evacuation centers in Himamaylan City.

The DSWD FO IV is set to distribute financial assistance today to 993 more affected families residing in seven sitios of Brgy. Carabalan and 246 families in two sitios of Brgy. Cabadiangan, all in Himamaylan City.*
