The Department of Energy (DOE) recently awarded plaques of appreciation to MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) and Negros Electric and Power Corporation (Negros Power) for their timely and full compliance with critical reportorial requirements.
According to a press release, the recognition highlights both utilities’ adherence to DOE Department Circular No. DC2023-03-0005, which provides supplemental policies for the systematic management of reportorial requirements in the electric power industry. This ensures accurate and reliable data submission among distribution utilities for the year 2025, an essential component in strengthening the country’s energy governance.
The plaques, signed by DOE Undersecretary Rowena Cristina L. Guevarra, were formally presented at the Energy Center in Bonifacio Global City.
The recognition underscores the vital role of compliance in today’s evolving energy landscape. With increasing power demand driven by rapid industrialization, renewable energy integration, and climate-related challenges, accurate and timely reporting enables better grid monitoring, helps prevent outages, and supports informed policy reforms.
MORE Power continues to serve Iloilo City and nearby areas, while Negros Power operates as the sole electric distribution utility in Central Negros. Their commitment to compliance contributes significantly to the DOE’s vision of a data-driven and resilient Visayas grid especially crucial in the aftermath of El Niño and amid ongoing electrification efforts, the statement added.
