The Department of Health, through its Health Emergency Management Bureau, declared Bago Mayor Nicholas Yulo as champion of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in Health, and the recognition was given as part of this year’s observance of the National Disaster Resilience Month.
This was after the local government of Bago passed the validation process and was able to present more than the required landmarks relative to the DRRM-H institutionalization set by the national health department, a press release from Bago City said.
Yulo is the lone mayor from Negros Occidental to win the award.
The others are the mayors of Bontoc in Mt. Province, San Gabriel in La Union, Mangaldan in Pangasinan, Itogon in Benguet, Concepcion in Iloilo, and the City of Vigan in Ilocos Sur.
Yulo said he dedicated his award to the hard working men and women behind the DRRM-H of Bago, who tirelessly work even in the midst of the Covid-19 crisis.
“Their passion and commitment to serve our constituency is very laudable. We were successful and able to accomplish many things because of them. They are, indeed, our unsung heroes and heroines and I share this recognition with them,” he added.*
